Hey, mama!
By March, the “return to work” reality has fully settled in for many new moms.
And here’s something we should say out loud more often:
The hardest part of breastfeeding isn’t breastfeeding.
It’s pumping at work.
No one tells you how mentally draining it can feel to watch the clock between patients. Or how frustrating it is to set up in a room that wasn’t designed for you. Or how defeating it feels when your supply dips because of stress or missed breaks.
This month includes IBCLC Day (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Day) A perfect moment to honor the people who help moms succeed… and also acknowledge how much support pumping moms in scrubs still need.
What I wish someone told me before returning to work:
• You’re not dramatic for struggling.
• You don’t need to “push through” discomfort.
• Your experience is valid — even if others had it “easier.”
• Your worth isn’t tied to how many ounces you pump.
Motherhood is personal, but pumping at work is a shared experience...one that unites so many women across healthcare, clinics, veterinary settings, dental offices, and beyond.
If you’re navigating this journey right now, here’s your gentle reminder:
You’re strong for trying, not failing if it’s hard.
And you’re part of a community that sees you.
Mommy Scrubs exists because no mom should feel unsupported while doing something so important… and so underestimated.
Stay Pumped,
Mommy Scrubs Village
