The first week of September is National Workplace Lactation Week, a time to honor and recognize moms who are navigating the challenge of breastfeeding or pumping while balancing their careers. To all the mamas in scrubs (and beyond) who are packing their pump bags, rushing between patients or shifts, and sneaking away to make sure your baby has what they need—I see you.
I see you because I was you.
When I returned to work after having my first child, I was determined to continue my breastfeeding journey. But the truth? It wasn’t easy. Between long shifts, finding a private space to pump, and dealing with uniforms that were never designed with nursing moms in mind, I felt defeated. I’ll never forget sitting in a break room, struggling with my scrubs—half undressed, hoping no one would walk in—just to pump. That moment stuck with me. I remember thinking, There has to be a better way.
That frustration, that lived experience, is exactly what planted the seed for Mommy Scrubs™. I wanted to create a solution that would let moms like you and me pump without losing our dignity, comfort, or professionalism. A scrub top that worked as hard as we do—one that gave us the freedom to nurture our babies while still showing up confidently in our roles at work.
So if you’re reading this during Workplace Lactation Week, know this:
-
You are not alone.
-
You are doing an incredible job.
-
The struggle you’re feeling is valid—but it doesn’t define you.
Mommy Scrubs exists because moms like us deserve better. We deserve comfort, convenience, and confidence every single shift. Whether you’re in a hospital, clinic, school, or anywhere scrubs are worn, your role as both a professional and a mother matters.
This week, let’s celebrate the moms who are doing both—nurturing their families and serving their communities. You inspire me every day, and I’m honored that Mommy Scrubs can be part of your journey.
From one pumping mama to another: keep going—you’ve got this. 💙
Stay Pumped, :)
